Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities have stated that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
