The United Kingdom is set to progress with employing the full worth of immobilized Russian assets to aid Ukraine's war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They further noted that the initiative would be executed in close cooperation with the America.

UK penalties have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russian assets since Russia began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, money allocated to Ukraine using Russian funds had only been taken from gains and dividends earned on them.

Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their desire to advance efforts toward utilizing the full value of the seized Russian sovereign assets to halt hostilities.

He added that additional restrictions over the next period would heighten the tension on the Russian government.

This announcement is subsequent to European Union representatives met in the Danish capital last week to discuss using frozen Russian funds for a €140 billion loan to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, US President Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to seize or utilize frozen Russian holdings, as reported by media sources.

The value of seized Russia's funds in the Europe is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

Russia executed extensive missile and drone strikes across Ukraine on recently, resulting in electricity outages in many areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and several other zones.

A pair of individuals were killed and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the assault, authorities in Ukraine said.

In a update on X after the strike, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault targeted non-military and power facilities.

"The necessity is not just talk but decisive action - from the America, the European Union, and the Group of Seven - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and applying sanctions," he stated.

"Every sanction decision undermines Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

In the same period, Zelensky told reporters he would urge Sir Keir to enter the PURL program, under which partner nations acquire military equipment from the America to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the United Kingdom's consistent assistance for Kyiv, he noted it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the system, as well as enforce more measures on Russia.
